Xiaomi 17 Pro: Xiaomi is teasing something big. Rumors say it will bring many cool changes: a second screen at the back, super camera lenses, fast charging, and a beast of a chip inside. In this article, I tell you what we know so far (and what we guess) about display, battery, design, specs, price, and when it might arrive in India. Let’s jump in!
Display
One of the most exciting parts of the Xiaomi 17 Pro is its screens.
It will have a front screen that is about 6.3 inches. It uses LTPO display technology. LTPO means it can change refresh rate to save battery when you are not doing fast motion. It is said to have 120Hz refresh rate. That means moving things (like when you scroll or play games) look smoother.
The bezels (the border around the screen) are very thin. Leaks say 1.1 mm ultra thin bezels. That means more of the phone front is screen.
There is a secondary display on the back. This is inside or around the camera module. Imagine you flip the phone and see another smaller screen. It might show the clock, notifications, maybe act as a viewfinder for selfies using rear cameras. Leaks say this rear display is “built into the rear camera area” and could fill much of that space.
So both front and back screens bring new possibilities: selfies, preview, notifications, etc. It reminds people of Xiaomi’s Mi 11 Ultra, which had a smaller rear screen. But this one might be bigger or more useful.
Battery
Battery is another big section. Here’s what people expect:
The battery size is about 6,300 mAh. That’s quite large. It means you can use the phone a long time before charging.
The charging looks very fast. 100W fast charging is mentioned. Wired or wireless? The leaks suggest both wired and wireless charging speeds may be high. At least wired 100W.
Wireless charging plus maybe reverse wireless or other fancy charging features might appear.
So overall, battery power + charging speed is expected to be excellent.
Design & Look
There is a secondary (rear) screen integrated around or inside the camera island. It is called “Magic Black Screen” in teasers. It covers two rear cameras, and there is a third lens below, next to the flash. Holm shape is “pill-shape” for the third camera.
The body likely is thick/bulky because that camera module plus rear screen takes space. It won’t be ultra-slim like some phones.
It has IP69 rating (dust and water resistance). That means very high protection. Some sources mention both IP68 / IP69.
It should have an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. That means it’s under the screen (front) and uses sound waves to read your fingerprint (more secure / better under water or screen protectors) according to leaks.
So in looks, people expect something premium, rugged, and very modern.

| Secondary Display Function | Rear display may show time, notifications, incoming calls, messages, and act as a viewfinder. Could support some full-screen apps (leaks suggest that for Pro Max model). |
| Durability | IP69 rating, likely strong build, good resistance. |
| Other Features | Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, strong imaging (with Leica partnership in some leaks), possibly fast wireless charging. |
Price
We don’t know the official price yet, but there are educated guesses from India sources.
One site SmartPrix expects the price in India to start at around ₹79,990.
That is for the base model (maybe 12GB RAM + 256GB storage or similar). If you get more storage or RAM, price could be higher.
Just for comparison, past Xiaomi premium phones sometimes cost similar or a little less depending on taxes, import, etc.
From what I imagine, given the features, India price could be anywhere between ₹70,000 to ₹90,000+ depending on variant. If there are special features (rear screen, periscope lens, large battery), cost will push higher.
Also, EMI (equated monthly instalment) plans might be offered by retailers or Xiaomi dealers. For ₹80,000, EMI over 12 months could be about ₹6,500-₹7,500/month depending on interest, bank offers. If 24 months, lower per month but more interest maybe. These are guesses.

FAQ
Q1: Will the Xiaomi 17 Pro work well for gaming?
A: Yes. With a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and a 120Hz display, it will handle games smoothly. The large battery also helps so you can play longer without needing a recharge.
Q2: What is the point of the rear secondary display?
A: The rear screen is useful. For example, you can use it as viewfinder for selfies with rear cameras (which are usually better). It might also show time, notifications, incoming calls, so you don’t need to unlock the phone to check small stuff.
Q3: Is 100W charging safe?
A: High-watt charging like 100W is becoming more common. When done well, it’s safe. Xiaomi and other brands include safety tech to control heat, monitor battery health. But you may need to use the charger that comes with the phone (or certified charger) to be safe.
Q4: Will this phone be waterproof or durable?
A: Leaks say it will have IP69 (or IP68/IP69) rating. That means very good protection against water and dust. It should survive splashes, rain, maybe even high-pressure wash (though that’s not always recommended).
Q5: Should I wait for Xiaomi 17 Pro or buy something now?
A: It depends. If your current phone is old, slow, or has bad battery, waiting could be worth it for these new features. But if you urgently need a new phone, many phones today are quite good. If you can wait till launch offers or discounts, that might save money.
